SMI Suture Surgicryl Rapid 5/0 with HR 17 17mm 1/2 Circle Round Bodied Taper Point Needle 75cm (12) SMI Surgicryl Rapid is a rapidly absorbable, braided and coated multifilament suture made of polyglycolic acid. It’s designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, particularly in superficial procedures where short-term wound support is needed, such as skin and mucosal tissue adaptation. Absorbable Designed to be absorbed by the body over time through hydrolysis. Braided and Coated A braided and coated multifilament suture, providing strength and smooth tissue passage. Material Composed of polyglycolic acid, a synthetic, absorbable material. Coating The coating (polycaprolactone and calcium stearate) contributes to its smooth passage through tissue and minimises the sawing effect during suturing. Absorption Profile Rapidly absorbed, with approximately 50% of its tensile strength remaining after 7 days and is fully absorbed within approximately 42 days. Tissue Reaction Known for causing minimal tissue reaction. Applications Suitable for a variety of procedures, including general soft tissue approximation, skin and mucosal tissue adaptation, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, and paediatric surgery. Tensile Strength Maintains about 50% of its original tensile strength for approximately 7 days. Colour Available in both beige (undyed) and violet.
